Employee Ownership Day CelebrationsOn 30th June, Staff at B&M celebrated EO Day, a national day of celebration promoted by the Employee Ownership Association. The day is used as a vehicle to promote the employee owned sector nationally within the media as well as a way for shared ownership companies to celebrate their successes. The day started in the morning with bacon butties for all the operatives at our Lincoln office. At lunchtime, we welcomed the local MP, Dr Caroline Johnson. Caroline met with the directors of our Employee Benefit Trust and was keen to learn how our employee ownership structure worked and how it was benefitting our employees and customers. Following this, Caroline thanked everyone for the invitation and expressed how impressed she was with the company’s ethos and shared management approach. She was then invited to cut our celebratory EO Day cake. The day still not over, all our site based colleagues returned to the Lincoln office at 3pm for a barbecue with music and rodeo bull. We are already looking forward to EO Day 2018!

Promotion within the RanksWith the sad departure to pastures new of the much respected Darren Misiak, one of our own operatives, Joe Lill, steps into the Fray as contracts manager, and fortunately for us he was no stranger to pressure. After a fantastic start the management team has decided to make the position permanent! So he has hung up his screwdriver and picked up a pen, or in Joes case a spreadsheet! We hope his fresh from the tools knowledge will serve him well in his new role. He has however refused to eat bacon baps and cakes so further office training is needed if he is going to fit in around the office.

Brook and Mayo goes Enviro-Mental!Brook and Mayo’s company colours have always been green but now we have decided to take it a step further and live up to our branding and GO GREEN. We have now pledged with Sustain Lincolnshire and Peterborough Environmental City Trust to become an environmentally friendly company. In order to achieve the accreditation we will have to show a reduction in our energy usage over a period of two years as well as write a full action plan on how we will continue to reduce our impact on the environment. This is a huge undertaking for Brook and Mayo, but we feel it is an important one as pressure to be environmentally friendly is ever increasing on companies and we want to do it!
